Position Summary The Full-time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library. Location: Mint Hill Library 6840 Matthews-Mint Hill Road Mint Hill, NC 28227 Schedule: Full Time Benefit Eligible, 40 hours per week Mondays 11:00am – 8:00pm Tuesdays - Thursdays, Alternating Fridays and Saturdays 8:00am – 5:00pm Essential Functions Promote the library’s collection and services Perform circulation activities Provide service desk coverage Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer Provide research assistance to customers Utilize integrated library systems software Assist customers at several service points Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes Collaborate with Librarians to deliver programming and outreach services Assist with volunteer management Perform shelving and weeding duties Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail. Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Horizon) Bilingual. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of: Alpha-numeric sorting systems, Various library systems, Telephone etiquette. Skills: Technology adeptness, Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, Excellent time management skills with attention to detail. Abilities: Adaptability, Communication, Collaboration, Technical/professional Knowledge and Skills, Work Standards. Computer Skills: Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite. Work Environment: Works in an office setting with moderate noise. Will work in a setting with children and teens from neighboring schools and program attendees. Schedules will include some nights and weekends.
